With the JAC Delhi 2026 registration window closing on June 9, 2026, candidates are rushing to finalize their applications. While filling choices correctly is important, the physical document verification stage is where many admissions are cancelled or converted to the General category. The Joint Admission Committee is extremely strict about certificate formats, issuing authorities, and especially issue dates. Let's break down the exact document requirements and rules.
⚠️The Golden Rule: Certificate Issue Date
If you are claiming reservation under the OBC-NCL (Other Backward Classes - Non Creamy Layer) or EWS (Economically Weaker Section) categories, you must adhere to the official financial year rules:
Crucial Requirement:
The OBC-NCL and EWS certificates MUST be issued on or after April 1, 2026.
- Why? These categories depend on annual family income. A certificate issued before April 1, 2026, reflects the income of the previous financial year and is invalid for the current admission cycle.
- What happens if it is older? During physical reporting, the verifying officer will reject the certificate. Your category will be changed to General/OPEN. If your JEE rank is higher than the General cutoff for your allotted seat, your seat will be cancelled on the spot.
- OBC-NCL Central vs. State List: Ensure your caste is listed in both the Delhi State OBC list (for Delhi quota) and the Central OBC list. The certificate must explicitly state that the candidate belongs to the Non-Creamy Layer.
📋JAC Delhi 2026 Document Verification Checklist
Once a seat is allotted (Round 1 allotment is on June 15, 2026), you must physically report to the allotted college with the following documents (original + three sets of self-attested photocopies):
| S.No | Document Name | Description / Specific Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | JAC Registration Form | Printout of the filled application form signed by candidate and guardian, after locking choices. |
| 2 | JEE Main Admit Card | Official Admit Card issued by NTA for JEE Main 2026. |
| 3 | JEE Main Score Card | Showing details of NTA score and All India Rank (CRL). |
| 4 | Class 10 Marksheet/Certificate | For proof of Date of Birth (DOB) and candidate name. |
| 5 | Class 12 Marksheet | Crucial for verifying if your school location qualifies you for the 85% Delhi quota or 15% Outside Delhi quota. |
| 6 | Category Certificate | SC, ST, OBC-NCL, or EWS certificate. Note the April 1, 2026 issue date requirement for OBC-NCL/EWS. |
| 7 | Medical Fitness Certificate | Must be signed by a registered medical practitioner in the exact format given in the JAC Delhi 2026 brochure. |
| 8 | Allotment & Fee Receipt | Provisional Seat Allotment Letter and receipt of the Seat Acceptance Fee paid online (approx. ₹95,000). |
📍Delhi vs. Outside Delhi Quota Verification
Another common error is submitting a Delhi Domicile Certificate as proof of the Delhi Region Quota.
Please remember:
JAC Delhi does NOT look at your domicile certificate or permanent address to decide your region. It is based 100% on the address of the school from which you passed Class 12.
During verification, the officer checks the school code, school name, and school address on your Class 12 marksheet. If the school is in Delhi, you get the 85% Delhi quota. Otherwise, you get the 15% Outside Delhi quota.
💡What if Your Certificate Has an Error?
If you realize there is a name discrepancy or date error on your category certificate:
- Apply for a new certificate immediately: Government portals often issue EWS/OBC certificates within 7-10 days under urgent schemes. Since Round 1 physical reporting starts around mid-June, you have a brief window to get it corrected.
- Prepare a Correction Affidavit:For minor spelling differences in your parent's name or your name between the Class 10 marksheet and category certificate, a Notarized Affidavit stating that both names belong to the same person is highly recommended.
- Be Prepared for General Seat Mapping: If your certificate is flat-out rejected (e.g. invalid date), you can still participate in the next rounds as a General category candidate, provided your rank matches General cutoffs. Use our Predictor to plan a General choice list as a fallback.
